Wildfire prevention
Minnesota has over 1,200 wildfires annually. Many of these have been small, innocuous grass fires that threaten little more than a patch of grass and brush. Some have destroyed forest timber that could have been utilized. And some have destroyed property, homes and cabins.
Over 99 percent of the wildfires in Minnesota are caused by people. These are all preventable fires. Minnesota's Fire Prevention program is designed to reduce the number of wildfires by helping people understand how wildfires occur so they can help prevent them.
