State Park Tours
Soudan Underground Mine, Soudan, offers two tour options: a Historic Mine Tour and the High Energy Physics Lab tour. Each hour and a half tour takes you a half-mile down into the earth where iron ore once was mined and where, today, futuristic studies of neutrinos are taking place. Tours are offered daily from Memorial Weekend through the end of September and on weekends in October.

Mystery Cave at Forestville State Park, Preston, offers a choice of four tours: A one-hour, accessible Cave Tour of Minnesota's longest cave, a two-hour Lantern Tour or a four-hour Wild Caving tour. The Cave Tour is offered daily from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day and on weekends after Labor Day through the end of October; Lantern Tours are offered only on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day and Wild Caving tours are available summer weekend only for persons 13 years old and up. Mystery Cave also offers an Advanced Educational tour (not suitable for children) for groups of 10 or more.

Hill Annex Mine, Calumet, offers three different tours: a fossil tour, a mine tour by bus, and a pontoon boat tour of the water-filled open pit mines. Each tour runs about an hour and a half and is offered once a day, Wednesday through Sunday and holidays from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day.

Reservation Information
Advance reservations are available for all regular tours through the park reservation service. For a non-refundable reservation fee of $8.50, up to 10 tickets can be reserved with one reservation. Half of the spaces on each tour will continue to be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of tour tickets will be paid at the park upon arrival.
