Modern Group Centers: 

Modern Group Centers include facilities for sleeping, dining, kitchen and bathrooms. Some have staff quarters, craft buildings and other facilities.

Location:

Group Centers are available at the following parks on a seasonal basis:

  • Flandrau (capacity 120), Lake Carlos  (capacity 60), Lake Shetek (capacity 80), St. Croix Norway Point Center (capacity 215), St. Croix Head of the Rapids Center (capacity 127), and Sibley (capacity 120).

Group Center available year-round:

  • The only group center available year-round is located at Whitewater State Park (capacity 132). 

Fees:  

  • Modern Group Center fees range from $100 to $500 per night or $5 per person/per night (whichever is greater).
  • Day use of dining and restroom buildings (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) may be arranged with the park.  Rental is $100 per day. 
  • Overnight use varies by group center.  Utility charges (fuel, electric, local phone, etc.) are additional and vary by park.
  • Winter rates for Whitewater state park group center are $125 per night or $4.50 per person (whichever is greater).

Semi-modern Group Centers:

Semi-modern group centers include a dining room, kitchen and bathrooms.  There are no cabins or barracks for sleeping.  Users must provide their own sleeping accommodations such as tents or RVs.

Location:

  • Semi-modern Group Centers are available at Itasca (max. capacity 75) and Myre Big Island (max. capacity 100) state parks.  These centers are available on a seasonal basis only.

Fees:

  • Semi-modern Group Center fees range from $150 to $200 per night or $5 per person/per night (whichever is greater).
  • Utility charges (fuel, electric, local phone, etc.) are additional and vary by park.
  • At Itasca, the group camp facilities include a small, three-bedroom cabin for group leaders that sleeps five.

Making a Reservation

Contact the Park:  To reserve a group center, call the state park directly.

Reservations for group centers are NOT made through the state park reservation service.

Deposit

A deposit equal to the minimum overnight rate is due at the time the reservation is made.  The deposit is credited towards the total charges for use of the facility.

Cancellation Information

  • 60 days or more in advance:  If the group center reservation is canceled 60 days or more prior to the arrival date, the deposit less 50% is refunded to the customer.
  • Less than 60 days in advance: If the group center reservation is canceled less than 60 days prior to the arrival date or if the reservation is not used, the full deposit is forfeited.
  • Reservation change:  If a reservation is changed and the reservation period is shortened, the reservation deposit will be used to pay for the canceled portion of the initially reserved period.
