Tours

Mystery Cave

Four different cave tours are offered at Mystery Cave: The One Hour Cave Tour, the Two Hour Lantern Tour, the Caving Tour and the Advanced Educational Group Tour.

The One Hour Mystery Cave Tour: This tour is available daily from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day. The one-hour tour is offered on the hour, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., seven days a week. In early spring (from mid-April to Memorial Weekend) and in the fall (after Labor Day through the end of October) this tour is available on the weekend only. Tours are available on the hour from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Fees: 13 and older ($10.00), 5 - 12 ($6.00), under 5 years (free), a vehicle permit is required.

Minnesota Caverns Tour: This tour is available only on weekends from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day. This rustic ,2-hour tour is offered in the afternoon. Tour is not recommended for children under five years of age. Fees: 13 and older ($15.00), ages 5 - 12 ($10.00).

Caving Tour: Offered on Saturdays beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day. This guided 4-hour tour is designed for visitors aged 13 and older who are in good physical condition. This tour introduces the visitor to caving techniques and conservation, and allows the visitor to explore undeveloped portions of Mystery Cave. Fees: $55.

Advanced Educational (Group Tour): This tour is offered from mid-April through the end of October. Includes a cave tour as well as other interpretive activities, adapted for individual grades or college classes. $14.00 per person, a minimum of 10 visitors.

NOTE All vehicles entering the park or tour area require a vehicle permit ($5 daily permit or $25 annual permit).

A jacket or sweatshirt and good walking shoes are recommended on the tour. The cave is a constant 48 degrees.

Reservations: Up to 10 spots on a tour can be reserved for one reservation fee of $8.50. Reservations can be made online or by phone to the reservation service. Group reservations for 10 or more visitors should be made by calling the park. School groups interested in tours should call Mystery Cave at (507) 352-5111. For Caving Tours, prepayment of tour fee is required. There is a maximum of 5 people per tour and arrangements must be made by calling (507) 937-3251.
