Description:

Caldwell Brook Cedar Swamp is an excellent example of undisturbed northern white cedar forest. Because white cedars do not regenerate after being logged off, this site will serve as an important bench mark for research purposes in the future. The site protects vulnerable habitat for boreal plants. The property was transferred from the Federal Bureau of Land Management to the State of Minnesota for natural area purposes. The best time to visit this swamp is during the winter, when skiing or snowshoeing is possible.
