Track: Tomorrow (August 15) is the deadline for Minnesota youth to entry a lottery for a chance to participate in several new special hunting opportunities being offered this fall by the Department of Natural Resources. The structured hunts for pheasants and deer are designed to introduce kids to the outdoors.

Mike Kurre (Cure-ee) DNR's mentoring program coordinator says during these events, youth ages 12-17 and their guardians will be paired with adult guides as they take to field.

"These hunts are a perfect chance for adults to leave a legacy. We need them to help us introduce kids to the outdoors, get them a chance to get outside, and get them active, whether it's their own kids, their grandkids, or even the neighbor kids, because if they don't chances are nobody else will."

Track: Kurre says Information about the special youth hunts lottery is available on the hunter recruitment and retention section of the DNR Web site at www.mndnr.gov/harr.
